The Challenge

The Challenge

We joined the project midway as a two-designer team after earlier concepts weren't meeting client expectations. The product lacked a clear direction, requirements continued evolving, and the team needed to rebuild confidence

Constraints

Constraints

1. Limited references - Cricket analytics interfaces had very few mobile examples 2. Frequent requirement changes - Features evolved continuously during design exploration 3. High iteration pressure - 3 core flows required 3-4 redesign cycles before alignment

What we learned

What we learned

After reviewing PRD, existing designs & client meet, 4 insights came out as dark theme, modern UI, minimal layout & a dialogue. “Feel you are a cricket player playing in a stadium & your stats are on a TV” So, we created onboarding 1st drafts that made the client stay

Designing for Familiarity

Designing for Familiarity

Existing cricket analytics UI often felt gamified, so we converted TV broadcast graph to mobile, which added the familiarity

Iteration journey

Iteration journey

1. Onboarding went from illustrations → AI photos → refined branded approach 2. Pitchmap & wagon wheel graph went from concept → visual illustrations → TV broadcast-inspired → refined versions 3. Home screen explorations focused on balancing data & filters visibility

Key Product Decisions

Key Product Decisions

1. Recreated TV broadcast graphs to make cricket analytics instantly familiar 2. Added session duplication flow to reduce repetitive setup effort by 40% 3. Reduced onboarding friction by merging inputs & cutting steps from 7 → 5 4. Introduced reel-inspired session analysis flow for faster content consumption

Delivering the Product

Delivering the Product

Though each round of feedback evolved the features & requirements, we kept iterating & refining the product Eventually delivered across 77+ screens with dev handoff sections & design system

Impact & Learnings

Impact & Learnings

Over time, the conversations shifted from updating user flows to discussing what to design next This project taught me that trust is earned through consistent progress
